The travel industry – and my personal business – has seen a huge uptick in multigenerational and multi family travel experiences. While traveling with grandparents and/or grandkids is nothing new, the trend has picked up significantly in our post-Covid travel world. Families are finding that they want to spend their time (and resources) on making memories with those they love the most.
Top 5 vacations types for multigenerational groups:
- Adventure: It seems that getting outside and engaging with the destination is a top priority for many families. Finding a small group tour that allows flexibility in activities and excursions can allow both active and slower paced activities, while also including time for families to spend time all together.
- Cruising: Setting sail on a cruise ship has always been a popular option for multi generational vacations. Cruise ships offer a wide variety of offerings, from kids clubs for kiddos as young as 3, to teen hangout spaces, to casinos and adult only spaces. Cruise vacations allow for interests of all kinds, with time to come together and dine and explore the ports of call.
- Dude Ranch: This trend is catching on fast! A unique vacation experience which may be new to everyone in the group. A vacation to a Dude Ranch (there are many to choose from!) brings together the best of nature/outdoors with relaxation and time to laugh and relax. Note: My family has been on many vacations and if you ask my kids what their best vacation memories are, they will all talk about the time we went to a Dude Ranch with their cousins and grandparents!
- All Inclusive Resorts: Everyone loves to have a vacation that is pre planned, pre paid, and allows for relaxation and enjoyment. Many All Inclusive Resorts have kid and teen clubs, as well as water parks, casual dining, and daily entertainment for those that enjoy staying busy. They also include adult only spaces, fine dining, and spa services. This makes All Inclusive Resorts a very popular option for families traveling with multiple ages and interests.
